Ballet

Classical Ballet is the foundation of most forms of dance and provides the technique needed to explore other genres of dance. Classical Ballet focuses on building strength, flexibility and core stability.
At RTB our Junior and above students follow ATOD (Australian Teachers of Dance) Ballet Syllabus. Throughout the ballet lesson dancers learn captivating and engaging exercises that are designed to help dancers develop their technique at a safe pace, relative to their physical and cognitive development stages to safely practice ballet and prevent injuries.
Lyrical

Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz technique. Lyrical dance focuses on the connection of music through the lyrics of a song. Lyrical invites dancers to use their bodies and facial expressions to tell a story and show emotion. Dancers gain fluidity of movement, grace and control.

For our beginner level this involves handstands, cartwheels, bend backs and head stands, whilst including dance with learning exercises and combinations that enhance flexibility, coordination and control.
Acrobatics are challenging but fun, whilst dancers are performing acrobatic tricks RTB teachers ensure that students are executing the tricks properly and safely under a structured and safe environment.
Tap

Tap is an energetic form of dance that focuses on rhythm and percussion. Classes will include across-the-floor exercises that teach dancers to create rhythmic sounds by striking the floor with the metal plates on the heels and toes of their tap shoes, emphasising precise footwork, musicality, and intricate patterns while developing coordination and flexibility in the ankles and knees. The goal is to develop dancers’ coordination, clarity, rhythm, timing, and phrasing in a fun and challenging way.

Hip hop dance classes are enthusiastic and fun, they encourage creativity and improvisation. Hip hop dancing is all about feeling the beat and being in tune with the music, students will learn the ability to move smoothly to the rhythm of the music—along with incorporating body rolls, sharp isolations, and fluid movements. Students are encouraged to let the rhythm guide their movements and have fun!
